In today’s society it can be a tremendous hindrance to only speak one language. Bi-lingual and multi-lingual individuals are dominating the world market, in trade, sales, product placement and overall communication. Since communication is the keystone for good business, it would make sense that many intelligent business professionals are learning to speak a new language. Of course it’s not just businessmen and women learning how to speak a new language, there are plenty of other individuals that are dusting off their textbooks and learning another dialect. The reasons for learning to speak a new language can range from a quick vacation across the border, a safari planned for Africa or even simple communication in day-to-day life. Emigrants to the UK take great strides in learning English in order to function in day-to-day society.

Many emigrants spend ample amounts of time and dedication in order to learn how to speak the language of the country, because of this they can obtain employment and personal possessions, making them valued members of the society. Communication, vacation and necessity are some of the top ten reasons to learn a new language, however, there are countless other reasons to take the time and dedication to not only speak, but be able to read a new language. Perhaps there are some subjects of study that interest and intrigue you, but the texts for these are all written in a language other than your own. Taking the time to learn to read a new language can enable you to further your studies, increase your knowledge and help you to become a better rounded individual as a whole. Medical studies have been done that suggest learning a new language challenges and feeds your brain. This type of study can keep your mind healthy for a longer period and can delay the onset of diseases like dementia.
